Showcasing the best wedding photographers in Surrey!
Congratulations! You’re engaged! Your Surrey wedding venue is booked. The next thing on your list is to choose your Surrey wedding photographer!
Once the cake has been cut and devoured. and your flowers have sadly wilted and died, your photographs will be one of the few things left from your day. You’ll want to love and cherish them!
You will want them to capture the decor, the cake (to name but a few), plus all the emotions of your day! You need to get this decision right!
I know, it’s a daunting task!
Photography is a very personal thing and everyone will like different styles. Let’s face it, it would be a boring world if we all liked the same things.
The Surrey photographers that I have chosen all have a documentary style of work.
Documentary means less portrait and posed shots and more natural.
Long gone are the days were wedding pictures are staged and ridged portrait images.
That’s not to say that those all important group photos won’t be taken, however, they tend to be less formal.
An increasing number of photographers are now adopting the more candid style, which I absolutely love!
There are so many emotions experienced at a wedding. The best way to capture and remember these is by camera.
So, in a quest to make your search a little easier, I have listed my top 4 wedding photographers in Surrey. All of whom I have worked with.
And do not fear, if you are not getting married in Surrey, these talented professionals will travel!
1. Wedding Photographer, Richard Galloway, in Surrey
As soon as you arrive on Richard’s website, you are met with the words “stories without words”. In my opinion, this sums up Richard’s work perfectly.
With his ability to truly capture the emotions of the moment, Richard undeniably puts the viewer right there…even if they never were at the time.
The results are so natural and unstaged! He undoubtedly has an unmatched talent.
One of the many things I love about Richard’s work is his warm and soft tones, yet he can pick out a vibrant colour from a piece of clothing, or a disco light is pick out with amazing contrast and it works so well!
Richard sees it as his job to capture the first chapter of the rest of his couples’ lives together. With a wedding day fuelled by drama and emotion. Love, ecstasy, anxiousness, anticipation and friendship. Richard captures it all, raw and uncut. Then shaping them into a story.
In his own words, Richard’s not about setting up shots, but seeing the unique moments as they appear and capturing the laughter, smiles and tears as they happen.
Based in Surrey, Richard’s work takes him all over the country, in fact as far afield as the French Alps, Sweden, and Connecticut USA.
Head over to Richard’s website to see more of his work and what his past couples have to say about him.
2. Wedding Photographer, Daniel Robinson, in Surrey
Daniel has a very relaxed and unobtrusive approach. With his calming energy he puts any couple, with wedding day nerves, at ease in front of the camera. This results in him capturing the most natural of moments.
As well as his moody, warm tones, Daniel, has the skill of picking out vibrant colours, whilst staying true to his style.
With a mixture of modern and romantic, together with his creative edge, I believe Daniel’s style would be perfect for any of my wedding cake couples.
Although based in Surrey, Daniel’s work takes him all over the world!

3. Wedding Photographer, Melissa Megan, in Surrey
Next, we come to Melissa – timeless, romantic wedding photography.
Melissa’s photography also possesses soft muted tones. Her style is documentary (meaning less portrait and posed, and more natural) allowing her to capture the day as it unfolds.
Whilst working in a very unobtrusive way, she is there to offer gentle direction, when needed.
This results in Melissa’s images capturing the true emotions, laughter and joy of the couples’ amazing day.
Describing herself as a lurker, Melissa keeps out of the way, going unnoticed so as not to intrude on the day, yet silently captures those candid moments.

Frequently ask questions (Faqs)
How do I choose the right wedding photographer for my style?
Start by exploring photographers’ portfolios to see if their style matches your vision.
Look for a blend of candid, documentary-style shots and any specific elements you prefer, such as soft tones or vibrant colors.
Meeting with photographers to discuss your preferences can also help ensure a good fit.
What should I consider when reviewing a photographer’s portfolio?
Focus on consistency in their work, the emotions they capture, and how they handle different lighting situations.
Pay attention to the details in both posed and candid shots, and see if their editing style aligns with what you envision for your wedding photos.
How far in advance should we book our wedding photographer?
Popular photographers often book up well in advance, sometimes over two years ahead. To secure your preferred photographer, it’s best to reach out and book as soon as you have your wedding date and venue confirmed.
What questions should we ask during our consultation with a photographer?
Enquire about their experience with your venue type, their approach to capturing candid moments, how they handle unexpected events, and what is included in their packages.
Also, ask about their turnaround time for delivering the final images and if they offer any additional services like engagement shoots or albums.
Can these photographers travel outside of Surrey for our wedding?
Yes, the photographers mentioned in the blog are willing to travel outside of Surrey for weddings.
It’s best to discuss your location and any potential travel fees with them during your initial consultation to ensure they can accommodate your needs.
